When you choose dance for a career, your social life almost ends up in the minus quotient. So, while the rest of the world is busy finding themselves, and fearing losing their loved ones, we, dancers, happily immerse and lose ourselves in everyday practice, and in the heroes, nayikas and villains that the form makes of us.
Okay so there is nothing you fear?
I think more than the fear of losing a person, losing the vigour and vitality of the body, can sometimes be a bit of a trigger. But then there's more to dance and to life than being on stage, and fear always lends itself to a new adventure.
